A New Year

Happy New Year!

I always love New Years and that chance we have to reflect on our lives and make a bigger effort to better ourselves.  I know a lot of times those goals fall by the wayside after a few weeks but even if just ONE of the goals changes you just a little bit from those few weeks, it is still an improvement.

As I sit here cuddled under a blanket trying to keep my freezing body warm, I can't help but feel so much excitement inside of me thinking about 2018.  Our lives will be dramatically changing this year as we find out where we will be moving and then transplanting ourselves to a new place.  I also have a lot of new goals for myself and am working really hard to better myself as a daughter of God, mother, wife and friend.

I love the quote by Thomas S. Monson, "Never let a problem to be solved, become more important than a person to be loved."  I love this quote so much because I feel like it can apply to SO many things in life. After hearing of his passing and seeing this quote all over the place I have really been thinking about it and trying to apply it to my life.  I have already applied it multiple times in the past few days which made me want to make it one of my main goals this year.

We can be hurt or offended by a situation and choose to respond with trying to solve the problem (get revenge, make them understand us, make them pay for it, ignore them etc.) or we can simply just love.  Let it go and love.

We can be bothered by a child and try and try to FIX them.... or we can just love them for who they are.

I could go on for hours...

I hope that in a year from now I can look back and say, "Yes, this year I grew closer to my Heavenly Father, my husband, my children and my friends."  And I feel that that only happens when we become selfless in our relationships with them.  Expecting nothing and giving everything.
